Apple對iPad使用的「A4」處理器投資額可能達到10億美金？

根據The New York Times的報導預估，Apple在iPad中使用的「A4」處理器方面的投資額可能達到10億美元。

At the same time, Apple , Nvidia and Qualcomm are designing their own takes on ARM-based mobile chips that will be made by the contract foundries. Even without the direct investment of a factory, it can cost these companies about $1 billion to create a smartphone chip from scratch.



在同時，Apple、Nvidia 與 Qualcomm 正在設計基於ARM的行動裝置晶片，並由合約廠商負責製造。即使沒有直接投資工廠，這仍然需要花費約10億美金來從頭開始設計智慧型手機晶片。

Apple在2008年時便已取得了ARM技術的授權，並以2億7800萬美金收購晶片設計公司P.A. Semi。



不過目前Apple並沒有公開表示「A4」處理器是使用ARM技術，目前市場上普遍如此推測，是基於Apple官方宣稱iPad可直接執行iPhone與iPod touch用的程式，而這兩個產品皆使用ARM晶片。
