我一向對於觸控技術、電子閱讀一類的產品很有信心，不過我還是覺得，必須要有一些聲控、感應筆、實體鍵盤，也就是所謂的 netbook 才會成為未來的主流。

它跟我當時看到iPhone時的感覺不一樣，當時我說「天啊，微軟定的目標還不夠高。」iPad是一個不錯的閱讀器，但是看到他時，我沒有「要是微軟也有這樣的產品就好了。」的感覺。
雖然說第一段難免有些Bill Gates自己的喜好問題，而且我個人也覺得「筆」這裝置其實在很多場合還是比手指要好用的。至於NetBook會不會成為未來的主流，我想也許可能是，但是絕對不可能是目前市場上的「那些」NetBook。
不過iPad的衝擊的確是沒有iPhone當時來的強，畢竟以硬軟體來說，iPad的確就是個放大版的iPhone/iPod touch。而關鍵的數位內容提供（電子書）方面，在發表會上的著墨很少，而且關鍵的教育書籍與雜誌市場也完全沒有提到（個人認為雜誌才是電子書市場發展的關鍵），老實說單以電子書的角度來看，iPad能做的事情還很多，而目前的確是還太少了。
